One way a company can gain an advantage when bidding on government contracts is through certifications that restrict competition to only certain types of businesses. There are several certifications at all levels of the government – federal, state, and local – and this FREE webinar will focus on certifications at the federal level through the Small Business Administration and the state level through the State of California.
You will learn about the requirements, qualifications, and how to apply for the 8(a) Business Development Program. This program focuses on socially and economically disadvantaged businesses and is a unique certification that lasts for nine years and provides sole source opportunities (contracts that don’t compete) for 8(a) companies.
In addition, the SBA provides three other certifications. The Woman-Owned Small Business certification, the HUBZone certification for businesses located in geographic areas with above-average unemployment and below-average annual income, and the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business certification. The workshop will also cover requirements, qualifications, and information on how to apply for these certifications.
At the state level, California now offers a Small Business certification, a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise certification, and a new Small Business (for the purpose of Public Works) certification. Requirements, qualifications, and information on how to apply for these state-level certifications will also be discussed.
